Did you know that May is National Electrical Safety Month? I’m sure you’ve
baby-proofed you home. Take this as a friendly reminder to double check your outlets and wall plates. When choosing
outlet covers, consider the ones that automatically snap back to block the openings whenever a plug is removed. Some children are able to tug out the protectors that are simply inserted like a flat plug.
Got something plugged in? Here are two more suggestions: a
Cord Cover
for regular outlets and a
Power Strip Safety Cover
for, well, power strips. It’s certainly easier than trying to place heavy furniture in front of all your electrical cords. While you’re at it, make sure that any broken or missing wallplates are replaced. I’d hate for anyone to get shocked by accidentally touching a wire instead of the plastic plate. It’s such an inexpensive way to reduce electrical shock risk. Why not stash a couple safety covers in with every baby shower gift you give from now on? Caring can be awfully cute.

What: Hollandia Kangaroo Blanket
Why: After a long day, all I want to do is veg out in front of the TV and watch my favorite shows commercial-free on TiVo. And I usually spread out on the couch with a blanket over me. It’s not just any blanket I use. It’s a Kangaroo Blanket. Treated with Aloe Vera to make it extra soft, it feels so cozy underneath that it’s probably the adult equivalent of being swaddled. My feet never get cold because there’s a deep pocket sewn on the blanket, and the same goes for my hands. Two pockets are sewn on top. It’s big enough to cover your entire body, but small enough to take with you if you travel. Hey, if baby gets to take her lovey on trips, so does mommy.
Price: $150
