Holiday Travel: Keep Skin Fresh on the Road

Category: For the Home Bedroom Mom Beauty Seasonal Travel

imageimage

What: Borba Atomizer, Boots No7 Quick-Thinking 4-in-1 Wipes

Why: Taking a road trip with little ones can be a strain. Not just on your nerves, but on your skin as well. Two simple products to take along the way are the Borba Atomizer and Boots No7 Quick-Thinking 4-in-1 Wipes.

Use the Atomizer to freshen your skin, a stuffy car, a stale hotel room, or musty guestroom. When misted over clothing the atomizer deposits antioxidants that will literally soothe your skin while you sleep. Mist pillows and linens just before bedtime. I’ve used it on my car upholstery after transporting a wet dog and it really made a difference. (Note, because its contents are under pressure, you can’t bring it on the plane).

The Boots wipes come in a handy pack of 30. Not too many load you down, but enough for a trip. The wipes are gentle and fragrance-free wipes. They remove makeup, but don’t dry out your skin. So while staying with relatives, you can skip your whole cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine and just use these. I especially like the size of these wipes, not so big that I’m tempted to stuff half back in the bag, nor too small that I need several.

Price: Atomizer $21, Wipes $6.99

Mom Find: Rest Easy, Feel Supported

Category: For the Home Bedroom Mom Solutions

What: The BedLounge for Mom

Why: One can stack and poof pillows ad nauseum and still not find a comfy position to recline in bed.  Enter the BedLounge.  This is for moms for several reasons.  If you’re nursing, the BedLounge supports your back, neck and arms while you’re still in bed.  Having tried this with bed pillows, I can vouch for the improvement provided by BedLounge.  For us busy moms, sometimes the only leisure break we get is at the end of the day.  I like to read in bed, and, well, you see where I’m going.  Whether cuddling, nursing, reading, or even watching tv, you can rest assured that you won’t get a kink or a strain.  BedLounge has a washable cotton cover, side pockets, and adjustable back and head pillows.  It’s also bolstered by an internal frame, to keep you from slumping.  BedLounge will not disappoint.

Price: $140 – on sale now for $118, and shipping is free.

Sleep Like A Baby: Luxurious Organic Baby Blankets from Robbie Adrian

Category: Children Bed Time Children's Fashion Eco-Chic/Organic Eco-Friendly For the Home Bedroom Trend Alert

image

What: Organic Cotton Blankies by Robbie Adrian

Why: The trend in organic textiles is growing daily.  Even discount chains are offering organic clothing lines for babies.  But here is an upscale organic blanket that you’d never find in a discount store.  Robbie Adrian presents richly colored, organic cotton baby blankets, edged in natural silk ruffles (or straight edged silk, if you prefer).  They are warm in both the physical and the aesthetic.  Of course the dyes used are low-impact and free of heavy metals, but nothing is sacrificed in terms of richness of hue.

For discerning parents who want natural fibers free of harmful pesticides, one can’t get any better.  Robbie Adrian ensures that the cotton is 100% organic, all the way back to the bales.  Here’s the clincher: the blankets are machine washable and dryable!  Eschew those poly-fleece blankets.  Why settle?  Your baby deserves better.

Price: $55 - $116

Find it: RobbieAdrian.com

SheFindsMom Farah’s Mother’s Day Wish List

Category: Mother's Day For the Home Bedroom Jewelry Mom Top Five

image

1. New Watch: I time everything—yes, I’m a bit obsessive and think it began when I started nursing Max.  Have yet to kick the habit (watching the clock, that is), and I need a new watch to replace my busted Timex.  I’ll try something that doesn’t have buttons or glow in the dark.  This earthy-looking wooden Fossilicon ($75) looks like a bracelet.  I like.
image

2. Red Jewelry: I love red, and ruby is my birthstone, so I’ll take this gorgeous coral pendant necklace with rubies by Amrita Singh ($875).  Pretty please?

image

3. Summer Sandals: Can never have enough shoes, and I love these Bernardos ($89).  Much more chic than flip-flops but just as comfy (I’ve got the Matrix and live in them).

image

4. New Cell Phone: My old Motorola barely works.  I don’t need anything too fancy.  This red MOTOKRZR caught my eye and will do just fine.

5.  Bedroom Makeover: Instead of dreaming about one, I want my bedroom to look and feel like a luxurious retreat in some far-away, exotic island.  I’ll take over-the-top high thread-count sheets, too.
