Kid Find: Decorate with a Personalized Bannerama
Category:
Children For the Home Decor
What: Gifts Define Bannerama Wall Art
Why: You can buy the wooden letters at your local craft store to spell out your kid’s name to decorate his walls, or you can get a whimsical, one-of-a-kind
Bannerama. Soft, colorful animal dolls perch on top of letters to spell out a name or word of your choice and the pieces are held together with a silky string. It’s an easy way to add some charm to any room and an adorable decorating idea for your child’s next birthday bash. Start a new tradition by taking your kid’s photo in front of it every year.
Price: Starting at $48

Last Minute Holiday Decorating Tips
Category:
For the Home Decor Seasonal
Streamline Your Holiday Décor Before the Guests Arrive
Whether you are hosting some relatives for a few days or entertaining a crowd, here are some ideas for easy decorating that can be done in a half a day or so.
1. Think monochromatic: Choose a color and either gold or silver. Then collect ribbon, candles and glass balls in that color. You don’t need exactly the same shade of your color. In fact, variants of the same can look great together. Combinations of the items can create a put-together look on tables or mantles. Bigger items like vases and candles look best in odd numbered groups, think of balance instead of symmetry. If you are using them in a place little kids can’t reach, those glass pebbles used in flower vases look cool sprinkled around a centerpiece or mantle with pieces of ribbon.
2. Decorate with fresh flowers: I use a lot of flowers when decorating for holidays. Instead of buying an arrangement, I like to get a lot of one flower in white, red or green. In years past, I have headed to Costco and Trader Joe’s where flower prices are good and have always found something great. I did white tulips one year, those funky looking South African proteas another. This year I got my act together and ordered bulk flowers from
Costco.com. For the price of an arrangement or two from the florist, I can fill a dozen vases. You can find inexpensive vases at the crafts store or
online (for next year?). I like arranging identical vases in groups of three or five. This year I am using assorted green ceramic vases I gathered at discount stores to hold fluffy white hydrangeas. For filler, I’ll use evergreens from the yard.
3. No need to display all of your decorations at once. If something doesn’t “go”, don’t feel guilty about not displaying it. If it is an heirloom, just keep in the box for another year. If its is just some Santa knick knack, freecycle it or give it away. I weeded out last year and am thrilled.
Happy Holidays!

Mom Find: Feel Food Frames
Category:
For the Home Decor

What: Hand Painted Frames and Bulletin Boards from Feel Good Frames
Why: I confess – the majority of my frames come from
Target – they’re cheap and they look nice – what more can I ask? But some memories deserve the special treatment, and for those I turn to
FeelGoodFrames.com.
Their hand-painted products are cute without being cutesy (you know what I mean), and stylish with out being painfully hip. Colorful, fun, charming, and, best of all, personalized just for you. I love the “Happily Ever After” frame they created for me to display one of my wedding photos. Complete with festive giant polka dots in my wedding colors, it’s a joyful and beautiful reminder of one of the happiest days in my life.
They also offer adorable
bulletin boards for your child’s artwork. I can’t wait to order one for my daughter’s room – maybe she’ll stop taping stuff to her walls when we’re not looking!
Price: Frames from $23; Bulletin Boards $130

For the Home Decor

What: Way Out Wax Aromatherapy Candles
Why: Wax Out Wax is a natural source for all your candle needs. The candles are made of soy, not petroleum based. They contain no chemical additives, artificial perfumes or dyes. Choose from single scents like sage, lavender or rosemary or “synergies” developed by certified aromatherapists. I love
Clear Head, a combo of eucalyptus, peppermint and rosemary that makes me feel awake and soothes my nasal passages. I plan to use a bunch of the orange and clove ones for a holiday display.
Single scent candles come in eight styles/shapes and the “synergies” come in ten. These include classic columns, lidded tins and gorgeous cobalt glass. The mini-tins are perfect stocking stuffers. Way Out Wax also makes air fresheners, unscented candles and pet shampoo.
Price: $3.99 (mini - tins) – $17.99 (large round)
