Beauty Find: Basq Energizing Lotion for Swollen Legs and Feet
Category:
Maternity
What: Basq Energizing Lotion for Swollen Legs and Feet
Why: If you are pregnant in the summer and are hauling around a big tummy, your legs and toes might be somewhat puffed up. Or is that the understatement of the year? Instead of suffering, try this energizing lotion with eucalyptus and cucumber on those little piggies and crawl into bed feeling cool, relaxed and refreshed. The tingly sensation is just enough to feel good, and the scent is mild, but the cooling power is major. Works on your tummy, too.
Price: $22

Beach Find: The Ultimate Maternity Bathing Suit
Category:
Maternity Summer
What: Maternity Bathing Suits from Aerin Rose
Why: In my opinion, there’s no better way to spend a summer when pregnant than in your bathing suit. If you balk at being so exposed in your flourishing state, consider the benefits. When you’re floating in the pool, you feel utterly weightless (a stark contrast to how you might feel the rest of the day). If you have other children, they will certainly gleefully join you in the pool. And when it comes to prenatal exercise, swimming really can’t be beat.
The trick is finding a flattering, comfortable suit to see you through these summer months. I might have found the perfect suit from designer Aerin Rose. Her maternity line comes both as a one-piece or tankini two-piece. The shirred bodice provides plenty of room for you to grow throughout the summer. The halter top ties behind the neck and in the back for a flattering fit. And the sizes available accommodate up to a DD cup for those of us whose tummies aren’t the only things that grow in pregnancy.
Price: $115 for the one-piece; $119 for the two-piece

Get the Look: Gwen Stefani Does Maternity to the Maxi
Category:
Celebrities Maternity

What: The Maxi Dress for the Mom-to-Be
Why: Gwen Stefani may have her own clothing line, but L.A.M.B. minis are not exactly the most practical choice for a mom-to-be. Instead Gwen’s been seen everywhere in light, flowing maxi dresses. Come to think of it, Angelina Jolie seems to like the long look, too.
Depending on the style, we’re guessing that Gwen isn’t limiting herself to maternity maxis. Many of the dresses are cut for comfort and not necessarily a baby bump. And actually, the middle dress is the same
Diane von Furstenberg design that Paris Hilton wore on a separate occasion. If you don’t have $500 to spend on one frock, here are some other ideas:
We can totally see Gwen - and you - in this hot pink
Kay Unger Silk Maxi
. There are crystal-clear beads on the waist, padded cups (Yeah, we know you don’t need them) and a sexy low back. It’s half off for $238.90.
There seems to be room to grow in this
Sweet Pea Maxi
($90 on sale). We like the ruffles at the hem and the fact that you just slip it on, there are no zippers or buttons. The dress is also available in a blue zebra pattern.
Proving you don’t have to sacrifice style in the maternity department, check out this simple
Smocked Maternity Dress
in plum from
Old Navy
. It’s perfect for summer with a sexy keyhole neck, spaghetti straps and an empire waist. Plus, it’s a steal at $32.50.

What: Pregnant Moms Flip For These Sandals
Why: Summer is just around the corner and what better way to adorn your feet than with flip flops from Bonnie Marcus Style Press. For the expectant mom, might I suggest a sandal with her in mind. Embroidered on the strap is “Mom To Be,” and on the footbed is a silhouette of a pregnant mom and the words, “Expecting In Style.” Get them for yourself and be a hit at the pool. Get them for a girlfriend and be a hit at her shower.
More than just a groovy flip flop, the arch is sculpted and the wave tread pattern is both durable and comfortable. Erika Lenkert Shows You How to Look Fabulous When Pregnant – Five of You Will Win Her Book!
Category:
Books Giveaways Maternity

Who: Erika Lenkert, author of the newly released
The Real Deal Guide to Pregnancy: Fresh and Practical Advice for Navigating the Next Nine Months
What Erika says: Here’s the thing about pregnancy fashion: While today’s astounding selection means women are no longer relegated to the tent look, the price of a chic wardrobe may make you wish the muumuu was back in style. However, there are ways to look and feel wonderful without blowing Baby’s college fund. If you integrate the following mix-and-match basics into your pregnancy purchases and embellish them with your existing accessories, you’ll waddle through your trimesters in style—and perhaps save enough to justify a few extra well-deserved maternity massages.
A great pair of maternity jeans: When I asked more than 100 mothers to list their absolute must-buy maternity items, denim topped the list, and
GapMaternity
ranked number-one. No surprise there—they’ve got an astounding array of options, the most popular of which is the
Demi Panel Style
.
Cotton underwear: If you wear G-strings or thongs you may not need larger underwear during your pregnancy because those stretchy little hammocks may just fit you even at your fullest. (Although if you develop hemorrhoids, the pain will inspire you to forget about flossing!). Invest in some basic comfy cotton underwear, like these
Old Navy
numbers, which will allow you more breathing room, so to speak. Whatever you do, don’t spend big on undies because the minute you give birth you’ll never want to see them again.
An array of V-neck T-shirts: V-necks create a shape that diverts the pregnant woman from the usual pear look. It also accentuates the positive—your newly super-sized cleavage. Get a couple of clingy selections in a few different colors. Don’t forget to buy one in ever-slimming black, such as this newly discounted splurge purchase from
Pea in the Pod
, which can easily be dressed up or down.
A versatile sweater-wrap or jacket: Pregnant women run hot and cold—literally. Though often you’re more likely to feel the heat of the bun in the oven, there are still plenty of times when you’ll want to snuggle up in something stylish. Yes, this particular
Juicy Couture pick is a major splurge. But on the bright side, you can always hawk it on
eBay
or Craigslist after the fact and probably get around half of your money back.
Chic flip flops: At some point you will give up the desire to slip anything onto your feet other than good ol’ rubber sandals. And why not? There are tons of super-cute styles out there. If you find a pair you love, buy an extra set before you’re too big and lazy to care that your favorite slip-ons have started to smell like a boy’s locker room. When shopping for selections, keep in mind that it’s better for your pregnant body to wear shoes with a little support. Luckily, you can always turn to the pretty practicality of
Havaianas High Heel Lights
.
Win a copy of her new book,
