When I was in college, my very favorite shoes were a pair of beaded sandals from Bass that laced up the calf with leather straps you tied in a bow. To me they always cried “hippie” but these days I think they could pass for Gladiator. Why: These are boots that are amazingly comfortable, totally useful and really cute. Think jogging shoes at the bottom, but boots at the top. They are a perfect après-ski boot, or to just wear around town in wintry (or not wintry) weather. Unlike other fashionable boots (that might rhyme with bugg) you can wear these in the actual snow and sleet.
I have read that hot young celebrities wear these, which often means they are a no-no for me, a pushing-40-not-model-thin gal. But no. The
