Mom Find: Cover Your Breasts, Not Your Baby
Category:
Mom Breastfeeding Solutions

What:
Wrap for Accessible, Yet Discreet Nursing
Why: I believe in my complete right to breastfeed wherever is necessary, but I can also appreciate using discretion. Up until now, if I needed to breastfeed in public, I risked the exposure. I absolutely hate shawls and covers that prevent me from seeing my baby while I’m nursing. Then along comes the
Slurp & Burp. Its 100% cotton fabric loops offer just enough material to cover above and below your breast.
The genius of it is its split design and built in burp cloth. Put the wrap over one shoulder and under the opposite arm, then slip your breast out of your shirt and between the fabric. It looks just as if you are cuddling.
Slurp & Burp allows you to maintain eye contact while nursing and see what you’re doing. Available in several fashion colors and patterns, how about ordering one for casual and one for dressier occasions? You can even choose organic cotton. Don’t miss another milky smile.
Price: $36 - $49

ZZ’s Please: Top Five Sleep Starters for Exhausted Moms
Category:
Mom Solutions Top Five
Before I had kids for some silly reason I thought labor and changing diapers were going to be the hardest part of motherhood. Then I realized that chronic lack of sleep trumps it all. To combat the fatigue, advice books recommend that new moms should nap when their baby naps. It’s hard, though, because baby’s nap time seems the perfect time to do the other few thousand things you’ve been putting off, but it’s good to try it when you can. But what if you can’t fall asleep and you have precious moments to waste? Try these five sleep starters to squeeze in as many zzz’s as you can.
1. Supportive nursing bras are a must while you are running around town, but the hardware can hamper a good rest. Yet going freestyle can quickly lead to a cold milky mess. Slip on a Maidenform Bralette
($11.20) for comfortable sleeping. It has just enough stretch to hold a nursing pad in place without rubbing, chaffing or constricting, and enough support so that you can answer the door mid-nap without major jiggling.
2. Soft sheets are a must. You’ve probably spent hours picking out bedding for your little one, so we’ve picked some bedding you might like. Try The Company Store’s Organic Sheets (on sale $21.99 - $40.99), made from certified 100% organic cotton. They are a soft 230 thread count and are not bleached or dyed.
3. Dust mites seem to live everywhere and can cause coughing and breathing difficulty. So your pillow is a place where you’d appreciate as few as possible. CleanRest allergy free pillows ($39.99-$49.99) are designed with a technology they call MicronOne. It blocks dust mites and other allergy causing tidbits from getting into the stuffing of the pillow. So you can actually breathe more easily, as well as breathe easier that there aren’t those creepy crawlies setting up shop while you’re in slumberland.
4. I love wearing night masks pilfered from my (too few) first class airline trips, so I can easily dream that I am on vacation. Then I saw these Bath and Body Works sheep sleep masks ($10) and I’m temped to toss my others. The masks are extremely soft and block out light. Hopefully they can also help you block out your problems for a little while so you can get some well deserved rest.
5. I believe in aromatherapy, and there are many scents that are conducive to sleep. But you need an effective delivery method. Anything involving fire does not go with sleep, especially if you have kids. A safer alternative is Aromafloria Sleep Ease Inhalation Beads ($6), which are like old-timey smelling salts. Crystals scented with natural oils including valerian and lavender are contained in a little muslin bag that you hold up to your nose and inhale.

MomFinds Solution: Bluwash Keeps Jeans Looking Good Longer
Category:
Solutions
What: Bluwash Eco-Friendly Detergent
Why: You know how it is, we try to give all our jeans equal time, but there’s always that special pair we love best. For me right now, that pair is my dark wash wide leg INC jeans. I can dress them down or up and they’re the perfect spring weight.
The downside of being the denim of the moment is the extra trips to the laundry room, especially for a dark rinse. Enter Bluwash Clean. Made from a blend of biodegradable cleaning agents, Bluwash protects your precious denim and other dark garments by bonding to the material and blocking and neutralizing chlorine and other chemicals that cause fading in the washer.
I’ve used Bluwash a couple of times and my jeans did come out of the washer looking and feeling great. Add Bluwash Soft in the rinse cycle and your jeans will feel so good, you’ll never take them off.
Price: $29 for 32 oz. (washes 58 pairs of jeans)

Time-Savers: This Back Seat Organizer is Also a Life-Saver
Category:
Solutions Travel
What: High Road Kids’ Back Seat Car Organizer
Why: If your kids are old enough to be out of a car seat, then you know that if they’re bored or cranky or in the mood for battle, a ten-minute trip to the supermarket can feel like a 10-hour road trip. I always have plenty of things for my girls to access in the car, but then the back seat looks like a war zone, with with juice bottles, puzzle books and pencils all over the place.
I had one of those behind-the-seat organizers, but they were too hard to reach. Not so with this back seat helper from High Road.
There are plenty of pockets to hold just about everything including juice boxes, snacks, DVDs, toys and games. It’s tall enough for a child in a booster seat to access and even strong enough to draw or play on. An added bonus, if you park it between two kids it will be harder for them to fight. Not there yet? Let’s just say that’s why I got a minivan.

Time-Savers: No More Purse Dump
Category:
For the Home Storage/Organizing Mom Accessories Solutions

What: The Plaid Purse Bag Organizers and
Hooks
Why: With these handy
organizers, you don’t have to dump out your whole purse if you want to switch to a different bag. The Plaid Purse bag organizers are like giant wallets that store your essentials. They have five gusseted slots and a Velcro pocket to hold you wallet, keys, cell phone and more. Load up the organizer and drop it into the bag you want to carry for the day. The
wrap-around version forms a ring, leaving space in the middle to fit a sweater or wrap.
The Plaid Purse also carries adorable
bag hooks to hang your bag on a table or counter when the other alternative is to put in on the floor. Years ago while working in television I had to carry a Super Model’s purse around all day because our dressing room did not have appropriate hooks. I even tried to clean an area for her bag, but she adhered to the superstition that you should never put your purse on the floor if you want your money to last. Wish I’d had a bag hook.
Whether you are superstitious or just don’t want to get your gorgeous bag scuffed, a bag hook is must. The Plaid Purse
hooks feature wonderful designs that are hand painted in Hawaii on capiz shells. I have one and it gets lots of attention. Both the organizers and hooks make great gifts for the purse-obsessed and the price is a lot lower than that of a new designer purse.
Price: Drop-In Bag Organizer $12.95,
Wrap-Around Bag Organizer $14.95,
Bag Hooks $19.95
