Baby Shower Décor That Doubles as a Unique Gift

Category: Baby Showers

imageimage

What: Baby Blooms Bouquets

Why: Looking for something different for an expectant mom? Baby Blooms bouquets are made of silk flowers mixed in with flowers made of rolled up baby clothes. The idea sounds gimmicky, but the bouquets are really tasteful and the clothes are cute. Baby Blooms bouquets can be the centerpiece at a shower, or just a special gift.  They are a refreshing change from the perennial cake made of diapers, and Mom can save the rest of the bouquet once the clothes are out.  Available in different sizes and five color combinations, the Natural Cream bouquet comes with all organic cotton clothing.  Baby Blooms is based in the UK, so they refer to mothers and mums, which I just love.

Price: $55 - $85

What: Onesies from Lilbird

Why: Admit it—when you go to a baby shower, you want to be the one who gives the coolest gift. You’re in luck—I recently discovered the perfect baby shower gift—handcrafted onesies or shirts from Lilbird. Adorned by hand with ribbons or embroidery, these shirts are complete originals and absolutely precious. (I particularly love the Tutu design.) But what elevates these items from a great gift to an irresistible one that they are packaged in a charming egg-shaped box. Lilbird clothing also makes for the perfect gift for faraway friends—your gift arrives perfectly packaged without you needing to wrap a thing.

Baby Find: Swaddle Your Baby, Pamper the Earth

Category: Baby Showers Children Bed Time Eco-Friendly Solutions

image

What: Bamboo Blankets from Satsuma Designs

Why: We’re big fans of swaddling.  My baby seemed to love it, and I truly believe it improved his sleep and general demeanor.  We started with the flannel blankets used in the hospital.  But then we discovered the bamboo-fiber swaddler from Satsuma Designs.  This blanket feels luxuriously soft and the fabric has natural anti-bacterial properties.  Bamboo is a sustainable textile, and spun into this blanket, feels almost like knit silk.  Of course it’s machine washable and dryable.  There are no dyes or other harsh chemicals, so Baby’s skin is safe.  Satsuma’s bamboo swaddle blanket is 34 inches square, an ideal size for swaddling.  Wrap your baby in comfort and love, and do the Earth a favor while you’re at it.

Price: $32 (plus $6 shipping in US)

What: Chinese Zodiac Onesies from Wanart

Her designs are embroidered onto American Apparel infant bodysuits, and are available for children aged from three to 18 months. Packaged in clear, pint-size takeout-style gift boxes, these are a perfect baby shower gift. (Or just a way to treat your own little one.)

Baby Shower Week: Cool Shower Games

Category: Baby Showers

image

What: BabySmarts by SmartsCo

Why: I’m not one for baby shower games. I instructed my friends who planned my baby shower (one of whom was MomFinds Heather) that there would be no blindfolded baby-food testing, no toilet-paper crafted diapers, and absolutely no games where guests wagered on the measurements of my expanded waist.

But I recently discovered one game that I would have sanctioned for the event. BabySmarts includes cards with 60 different questions and answers. Questions include things like: “What is colic?” (could have used that info) and “Are you more likely to snore when pregnant?” (personally, yes). It appeals to the trivia lover in me and is a game that could prove actually useful. Hear that, MomFinds Heather?

Price: $16.95

Find it: amazon.com
