DadFinds Friday: Billy Jealousy is Worth the Splurge
Category:
Dad
What: Billy Jealousy Skin and Hair Care
Why: It’s always kind of fun when I find new grooming products for my husband, especially when it’s a line with a sense of humor and commitment to giving back. Billy Jealousy (great name huh?) donates a portion of its proceeds to the arts, environment and “human needs” organizations. The labels are kind of fun and the male “models” on the Web site are a scream.
So what about the products? The Hydroplane Shave Cream ($20) was voted the number one shaving cream by Esquire Magazine in 2007. It smells great, like a minty orange, and promises to protects against razor drag, nicks, bumps and ingrown hairs, things I believe most men like to avoid.
Follow it up with Shaved Ice ($25). My guy liked the way it moisturized and felt cool at the same time, and again, it smells sexy and was named “Best Splurge” by Men’s Health Magazine. I agree that it’s worth the splurge, especially for Father’s Day.
Billy also has products for the face including Combat Lines, an anti-aging moisturizer and Wipe Out eye cream along with a few hair care items worth checking out.
Price: $16 and up

DadFinds Friday: Slate from Banana Republic Looks as Great as it Smells
Category:
Dad
What: Slate Eau de Toilette from Banana Republic
Why: When it comes to choosing a fragrance, I’ve always tried not to be swayed by the bottle. However if it comes down to Perfume A or Perfume B, I’ll go with the more appealing package. But I have to admit that opening Banana Republic’s Slate cologne for men, all I could think was “I hope this smells as good as it looks.” The black natural wood box is so good looking you’ll want to keep it for storage. The heavy square bottle has a black and silver top and is simply classic and elegant.
OK, so I’m sold on the look of Slate, but what about the scent? It’s very cool, predominantly citrus with notes of ginger and sage. It’s on the light side, and makes me think of the outdoors, maybe the beach, a great scent for a guy who prefers clean and green. And again, trust me, if you want to wow him from the get-go, Slate will do it.
Price: $45 and $58

Deal Alert: Spend $150 at
Banana Republic
by May 11th and you’ll receive a $25 cash card.

Deal of the Day: Bring Home Derek Jeter…in a Bottle
Category:
Dad Deal of the Day

What: Deals on Derek Jeter Driven
and
Driven Black
Why: Being from Boston, it kind of hurts me to say that I really, really like both the Derek Jeter Driven and the new Driven Black men’s fragrance and grooming lines at Avon-, and so does my San Francisco Giants fan husband. Trust me, you don’t have to love or even like the NY Yankees to love these products. Driven is a clean, spicy citrus and Black is a sexy, woodsy oriental. Both have nothing but five star ratings at Avon.com from women and men.
And there’s no better time than now to try them. For day, my guy says the Driven deodorant and body spray are both terrific, and he works outside in the Florida sun. They’re each on sale for $8.50. For a night out, you can’t go wrong with
Black
and right now if you purchase the eau de toilette for $26, you get a full-size after shave conditioner and body wash, an $18.50 value, free. Talk about a home run!

DadFinds Friday: Is He Natural and Easy-Going or Urban and Trendy?
Category:
Dad

What: F/P Homme for Men
Why: While you and I have no problem spritzing our favorite scent mid-day, most guys see applying cologne as a once-a-day thing. If your man complains that his cologne doesn’t last long enough, Fruits & Passion has the answer - two new fragrances with more “perfume concentration” than most eau de toilettes. He just has to decide if he’s a NUMERO 001, an adventurous, energetic, easy-going guy who prefers citrus, ginger, cool musk and sage or if he’s NUMERO 002, a more trendy, sophisticated, sensual type looking for a woodsy scent with notes of cardamom and cypress.
My guy’s more clean and green, although he certainly can be sophisticated and sensual, and he went for the NUMERO 001. He agrees that the crisp scent stayed longer, especially when he used the shower gel, too. And if your guy prefers a more subtle scent, both 001 and 002 are available in a body spray.
Price: $8 for the soap; $45 for the 3.4 oz. cologne
