MomSharyn’s Top Five Finds of 2007

Category: Dad Mom Bath and Body Beauty Top Five

I’ve had a great first year writing for MomFinds and discovered a lot of terrific products for me, my kids and my husband, who now knows that men don’t have to buy all their skin care products in the supermarket. Narrowing these fabulous finds down to five is nearly impossible. At least that many have worked their way into my daily routine. So this is a by-no-means-inclusive list with way too many cool things left off.

Thanks to MomFinds, my skin is very happy right now. I’ve added several products to my repertoire, but my favorite might be the Terralina line. The products are made with botanicals and natural ingredients, but they feel like a luxury line. They are gentle enough for sensitive skin and have a lovely soft scent. I also love that Terralina uses recycled materials in its packaging and does not test on animals. Prices are very reasonable at $8-$42 and shipping is free.

Choosing my favorite make-up find was another toughie, but if we’re talking “go to” product, it’s my Melissa Page Bronzer/Blush Duo in Two Fabulous ($18). I’ve used this when I was dark this summer and now when I’m a bit paler. It comes with a mirror and a great little brush. Sometimes I use just the blush, sometimes the bronzer and once in a while I swirl them together. It’s positively foolproof. Another bonus, it seems to last forever!

I had been looking for an alternative to those super menthol, medicated muscle rubs for years before I tried Stiff and Sore by Kathleen Lewis ($24). This is one of those “too good to be true” products. It’s 100% natural with aloe gel, arnica and grapeseed oil. It smells minty and not like medicine and it works! Even better, you can feel good about using it on your children after a tough soccer game or phys ed class.

My favorite “everyone should have one” find is the Bag for Life from The Body Shop. It’s cool-looking, tough and perfect for toting everything from books to produce to everyday stuff. It costs just $5 and $2 of that goes to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. By a bunch and use them as gift bags.

My husband had almost as hard a time as I did choosing his favorite find. Ultimately, he chose SeaOra’s After Shave Balm with Dead Sea minerals, aloe vera and green tea extract ($19.99). He says it never irritates his skin and makes his face feel smooth and soft (and I agree). He also loves the mild scent.

We aim to give eco glamour legs, a fabulous look and a slammin’ attitude that stops traffic and shouts the message: eco can be edgy, loud, fun, playful, feminine (or not) and hyper-cool.
