Beauty Confidential: The No Preaching, No Lies, Advice-You’ll- Actually-Use Guide to Looking Your Best
What Nadine Says: It’s easy to fret over your appearance when there’s nobody crawling by your heels at the speed of light, but once you become a mom, all beauty bets go out the window. Spending ages with mascara and curling irons? (With Junior wailing in the back room?) Not going to happen!
Being super-busy doesn’t preclude you from caring about your looks, but now that the priorities have shifted a bit, you need easy, you need impact, and you need fast. Here’s how to make the most of your appearance in seconds.
1. Great skin anchors your entire look and gets you get out of the house when you can’t spare even one second for anything else. Use a multi-tasking, easy-does-it foundation that still gives ample coverage, such as
Bare Escentuals bareMinerals
. Not only does it have SPF15, but it won’t make skin break out, gives skin and fine-lines an airbrushed glow, and is easily applied in seconds.

2. Raggedy nails look unkempt and scream, “Frazzled!” but regular manicures are impractical, not to mention a waste of money. Spend one minute every week or two buffing and filing nails (short, chic, done!) with a 4-in-1 utensil like
Deborah Lippmann Smooth Operator.
3. Get your one-minute makeup routine down pat. After you’ve applied foundation or concealer, swipe
bronzer all over your face to give cheeks and forehead a warm, healthy glow, give each eye five strokes with a
mascara wand, and use a tinted lip balm or
sheer gloss.
Sure, it may not be photoshoot-worthy makeup, but you’ll look pulled-together---and when every second is precious, learning to fake chic in a flash is a necessity!
