For the Gourmet Mama who loves to both cook and eat:
Fantastic Aprons ($55 for Full Apron): What ever happened to aprons? They’re functional, fun and when they look like the aprons of Progeny, they may be the most fashionable items in your wardrobe. Wrap yourself (and your little one) up in these fantastic covers and cook up a storm!
CSA Boxes: And when your family goes to whip up dinner or brunch on Mother’s Day, you can find the freshest produce in a CSA box. A CSA, (for Community Supported Agriculture) is a way for an individual to develop a relationship with a farm and to receive a weekly basket of the fresh produce. People actually become “members” (or “shareholders” or “subscribers") of the CSA. Most CSA farmers prefer that members pay for the season up-front, but some farmers will accept weekly or monthly payments. Click here to find a farm near you.
Recipes for Your Veggies: Since I live in the Bay Area, I get to go to Greens Restaurant for Mother’s Day Brunch. If you don’t, (or even if you do) you can enjoy some of these wonderful recipes at home with their cookbooks. My personal favorite is Fields of Greens ($21.42).
Cheese, Glorious Cheese ($210 for three months): It was my own mother-in-law who first introduced us to the Cheese of the Month Club. The expert fromagers at Artisinal Cheese choose three amazing varieties of cheese and deliver them to your doorstep each month.
Old-Fashioned Chocolate ($9.95 per pound): Every year my grandmother sends a pound of these incredible, old-fashioned candies. There is nothing fancy about them; they’re honestly made from the freshest ingredients. I strongly recommend the Chocolate French Mint.
