Pregnant?  Will You Be Going on a Babymoon?

Category: Good Question Maternity Travel Trend Alert

image

I must admit I hadn’t heard of a babymoon until recently.  Just in case you’re in the same boat, a babymoon is a pre-baby pampering getaway.  The idea is that you’re going to be grounded for a while after your bundle of joy arrives, so you’d better get some special travel time in while you can.

It’s a hot new trend in travel—combining the opportunity to travel to a destination you’ve always wanted to visit, while reveling in your relationship before the focus shifts to the baby.  And often, it’s a chance to be the center of attention one last time.

Like a honeymoon, parents-to-be can tailor the trip to meet their interests and needs, and many couples choose a resort or spa.  Also like a honeymoon, expect to spend a load on this vacation because you’re probably not just flying out to Niagara Falls for a few days of sightseeing.

I’m now expecting my second child, which makes it even easier to decide against a babymoon.  I’d feel selfish and regret spending the money, as if I had it to spare with #2 on the way!

How about you?
