Donate a Gift Card
Why: Recently I shared Consumer Reports’ warning about
gift cards’ potential pitfalls. Good news! I just found a
website for gift card exchanges and services.
Plastic Jungle has recently started to guarantee all transactions, so the risk is zero, and they provide several ways for you to unload those gift cards you can’t use. Here is what they offer:
Sales: you can purchase gift cards on their site, often at a savings. For example I found a $200 Saks gift card for $180, and a $100 Crate and Barrel gift card is just $90.
Buy: Plastic Jungle will give you cash for a percentage of your gift card’s value.
Trade: You can trade gift cards with other Plastic Jungle users.
Vault: If you have several gift cards, you can just log in the info and Plastic Vault will keep track. In many cases they will replace vaulted gift cards that are stolen or damaged.
Do you have gift cards with a small unused balance? Donate them to charity.
Donate a Gift Card accepts gift cards from many retailers and gives them to a charity you choose. Not every major retailer or major charity is involved, but I was surprised by how many are.
